F1 in schools is a worldwide competition aimed at aspiring young engineers aged 11 – 18. The competition is about creating a small F1 car to be shot down a course using a Co2 cartridge as propulsion in the fastest time possible. The rules adhere to strict F1 criteria and competitions are won and lost based not on the car design and development alone but how the team gels, overcome problems, gain sponsorship and having the best all-round attitude to better themselves.

We put in two teams, Development and Professional. Both sets of students have never done this before but they did our school proud by having:

  • Fastest car in both classes
  • Best Team Identity
  • Best Engineered Car – Professional
  • 3rd Place Overall Development Team
  • 1st Place Overall Professional Team

The Professional Team are now through to the National Finals at Airbus in Chester, where they are to compete for a place in the World Finals later this year. It’s going to be an amazing experience for our students and need all the support they can get.
