13 March 2018

A small group of year 10 students were crowned the winners of the Derby iRail competition 2018, which took place at Derby’s conference centre on March 13th 2018.

They competed against 14 other schools from the region, including last year’s winners and stole the show with their innovative design for a suspension bridge and their presentation to approximately 100 students, teachers and employers.

Students were presented with a certificate, a trophy and prize money for their school.  They are now set to take part in the finals later in the year.

The DMUTC would like to thank Learn by Design for organising the IRail event and thanks also to our sponsor partners including Bombardier, for their support throughout the year which helped the students have the knowledge to put together a winning design.

A parents comment: "Thank you I am so pleased and so very proud of her, I have told her well done so many times.  She is very happy about the certificate and winning for the school.  The money was an absolute bonus and boost for her morale.  Thank you for supporting her and giving her a chance to excel at what she enjoys doing.    Thank you so very much"
